Bumbling angels will delight
By Sue Baker
The Free Lance-Star
DEBBIE Macomber fans will be delighted that she has brought her three slightly bumbling, mischievous angels, Shirley, Goodness and Mercy, along with new angel apprentice Will, back to New York for the holidays in “Angels at the Table.
Will brings two lonely people, Lucie and Aren, together in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Lucie is preparing to open her first restaurant, appropriately named “Heaven’s Delight,” leaving little time for a romantic relationship.
After a memorable New Year’s kiss, they agree to meet a week later on top of the Empire State Building, if they are still interested in each other. Like the heroine in my favorite old movie, Lucie can’t make it due to circumstances out of her control. How the four angels attempt to get the couple back together makes this romantic story fun and heartwarming throughout.
This book is a perfect length for holiday reading. It could easily have a future as another Hallmark TV adaptation for Ms. Macomber. Meanwhile, get a cup of hot chocolate, get cozy and enjoy.
