Stafford County couple claim huge lottery jackpot

A Stafford County couple today claimed a Powerball jackpot of $217 million.

Dave and Nancy Honeywell elected to take a lump-sum payment of $136.4 million before taxes. They claimed the prize at this afternoon at the Richmond airport, where they purchased the ticket.

They both work for the Department of Defense. They commute 81 miles each way to Fort Meade in Maryland. He’s a computer scientist. She’s a project manager.

They both plan to retire. He plans to replace his 13-year-old Dodge Neon and they plan to build a big retirement home probably in the western part of the country. They two daughters, one who lives in Connecticut, and another in Spokane, Wash. The daughter from Connecticut was with them in Richmond with her two children.
