Rappahannock River Baptism
Six-year-old Alyssa Freidline is lifted out of the Rappahannock River by her pastor, Nate Harpe, after being baptized in the chilly water during a group ceremony on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013 in Remington, Va. Multiple churches brought baptism applicants to the section of river that once served as a slave crossing separating the Union controlled areas of Virginia from the Confederate territory in 1862.
