Free Lance-Star photographer Reza Marvashti attended last night’s annual flag retirement ceremony at Quantico National Cemetery. The ceremony is held in observance of Flag Day. According to usflag.org, a proclamation by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916 established Flag Day. But it was not until 1949 that President Harry S. Truman signed an act of Congress designating June 14 of each year as national Flag Day.
