Field Hockey: Mountain View v. Rainstorm
The rain – a downpour and mini-hurricane – became a fierce competitor for the Mountain View Wildcats during thier VHSL quarterfinal contest against Princess Anne H.S. on Thursday afternoon.
(An employee of the Sportsplex in Virginia Beach said ‘not to worry about the rain. The field’s designed to drain very well.’)
For me, it was keep the gear wrapped in Kata rainjackets, that worked quite well. (One body, double bagged in plastic newspaper bags, didn’t fare so well. But then, it REALLY rained!)
Viewing through a layer of clear vinyl coated on one side with rain, the other with condensation, I felt like the Bubble Boy working in a fog. The "view" in the "viewfinder" appeared as overlapping images.
Here’s an image of the mess for those who participated and attended the Wildcats compete:
And after the downpour, and a "weather delay", the temperature dropped and the wind picked up. Brrrr! Can you say "Hypothermia?" (Think about that, football players!)
