Swedish scholar: ‘Jesus was not crucified’

The cross has long been the symbol of Christianity, but theologian Gunnar Samuelsson is trying to turn that on its head. The Swedish scholar recently reported there is no evidence Jesus died on the cross, nor any proof the Romans were even crucifying people at the time of Jesus’ death.

A Christian, Samuelsson said his findings don’t contradict the Bible, because the accounts are not so specific.

Read the story here.

Are you kidding me? Who even justifies this guy’s opinion by publishing it? Whether you’re a Christian or not, the entire of LEGITIMATE historians disagree with him. Let’s all just let history speak for itself instead of somebody who has evidently never read the Bible nor any peer-reviewed history books. Seriously?

What history is supposed to speak for itself? There is zero historical confirmation of the existence of Jesus, much less his manner of death. The Bible is not history. It’s a book of mythology. It’s no more historical than Aesop’s Fables.

How can this guy call himself a christian? And say he is not going against the bible. The bible is gods word. And god said, his word would not come back void. The bible says jesus died on the cross.

He says the accounts are not specific?
Matt. 20: 19 – “And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. ”

MAtt. 27:35 – “And they acrucified him, and bparted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my cgarments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. ”

Mark 15:24 – “And when they had crucified him, they parted his agarments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. ”

Luke23:33 – “And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. ”

John 19:23 – “Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. “

Not to mention crucify means to execute someone on a cross.

Inquisitor may I suggest the book by Lee Stroebel “The case for Christ.”

He is a former atheist reborn again. It is very factual.

Does this Swede have an anti-Christian agenda? It sounds like his reason for denying a historical detail is simply to attack Christianity.
What other purpose would this serve?

Years ago I was granted access to the Vatican archives. What I found so profoundly underminded my belief system, that I left the orthodox religious life. Specifically, I was shocked to see how much information has been kept from the public about Jesus and the so-called “historical” Christian figures who came after him for the next 300 years. I am very clear that whoever the persona was who today is worshiped as the Son of God, never died on any device; nor was there a “raising from the dead”.
Sadly, it is the greatest ruse played on mankind.
On the other hand, the psychological structures that Christianity created are a genius of mankind. So, let them believe in their myths; they provide comfort to the masses. Of course, what is that marvelous quote: “With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.”

The Bible clearly predicted, in Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 that Christ would be crucified, and many other scriptures support this, and even tell why. The same Bible that foretold that Christ would be crucified, also tells us in Ezekiel chapters 37 and 38, and Luke 21 that Israel would become a nation again. Any history book will verify that Israel became a nation again in May 1948, after she had been conquered for nearly 2,000 years. No book of fables can tell of such things.

The bible was written 90 years after Jesus died by ordinary men. Read up on your history. God never “spoke” those words in the bible. Besides the original bible has hundreds of books which were thrown out by the guy who got to decide which constitutes the bible he wanted for himself. DO SOME RESEARCH IDIOTS!

Keep in mind that sadly alot of Swedes are atheists. I guess they believe the earth and universe came from nothing. Nothing comes from nothing. This earth and universe has a designer and His name is Yahweh God and He describes how He created everything and in the amount of time it took. No other book describes the creation of the universe, plant life, animals and of man and woman. Most people would like to think that they came about from a fish or an ape, but God says clearly we (not animals) are made in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:27). No one can truly understand the mind of God, but I know that He is the creator of all things and the giver and taken of life. No one can get credit for creating this universe – only The Creator God Himself and HIs Son Jesus Chrst. Believe in Him and have eternal life. “For God so the loved the world that He gave His only Begotton Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. John 3:16. Amen.
